  Fulwood Barracks, the home of The Queen's Lancashire Regiment Museum, is conveniently situated close to the M6 and M55 motorways, in the northern suburbs of the City of Preston.

The Barracks lies within sight of Deepdale Stadium, the oldest football league ground in the world and the home of both Preston  North End FC and the National Football Museum.

By Road

M6

  • From the South: Exit Motorway at Junction 31A, follow brown signs for National Football Museum until Fulwood Barracks appears on the right.
  • From the North: Exit Motorway at Junction 32. Turn left into Preston on A6 (Garstang Rd). Continue for approx. 1.5 miles to 2nd major  set of traffic lights ( Shell filling station on right-hand side). Turn left into Watling Street Rd. Continue for approx 1 mile to 2nd set of traffic lights (Garrison Public House on right), when Fulwood Barracks will be seen on the left.

M55

  • From the West: Exit Motorway at Junction 1. Turn right into Preston on A6 (Garstang Rd). Then follow directions as for M6 From The North above.

A59

  • From the East: Continue on A59 towards Preston. Join M6 Northbound at Junction 31. Exit at Junction 31A, follow directions as for M6 From The South above.

By Public Transport

By Rail

Preston is a major rail interchange on the West Coast mainline, halfway between London and Glasgow / Edinburgh. There are also regular services across country from East Lancashire / Yorkshire, Blackpool and Manchester Airport.

There is a taxi rank directly outside the railway station entrance. Journey time is approximately ten minutes.

Alternatively walk through Preston city centre to Central Bus Station ( approx. 10 minutes) then follow directions below.

By Bus

From Preston Central Bus Station:

  • No. 19 bus departs every 5 minutes from bay 19.
  • The Preston Orbital Bus Service departs every 15 minutes.  Take 88A anti-clockwise service outbound to Barracks, 88C clockwise service inbound from Barracks.
